Miguel Rivas is a New York City based photographer, his background in photography comes from his passion for live music shows, traveling and the artistry of craft beers. Founder and curator of The BeerTrekker project, a photographic journey and storytelling about the beer culture and the people behind them. 

Over the last 11 years he has traveled around the world visiting breweries and documenting it with photography and stories. His photography has been published in prestigious industry magazines like Beeradvocate, Hop Culture, Craftbeer.com, Craft Beer & Brewing as well as New York Magazine, Plate Magazine and several blogs and other publications like the third edition of the best selling book The World Atlas of Beer. He is also a collaborator for Good Beer Hunting.

He has been the official photographer to some of the premier beer festivals around the world like BXL Beer Fest in Belgium, 8x8 Beer Project in China, Shelton Brothers The Festival, Festival de Cervezas Extremas and Festival de la Cosecha del Lupulo in Argentina, Encontro Selvagem and Primavera ZalaZ in Brasil, Lupulin Carnival in Missouri, Micro Brew Fest in Panama, Beeradvocate Extreme Beer Fest in Massachusetts, Five Boro Craft Beer Fest in New York City, the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado and the World Beer Cup among many others.

Since 2017 Miguel has been invited as a beer judge and the official photographer to some of the most important beer competitions in Latin America like Indie Beer Cup in Costa Rica and Panama, Copa Cervecera Mitad del Mundo in Ecuador, Aro Rojo in Mexico, Festival de Cerveceros Artesanales, Copa Cervezas del Café and Copa Tayrona in Colombia, Inka Beer Cup in Perú and CICA in Spain.

He has also traveled extensively in most of Western Europe, The Americas from Canada, USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Brasil all the way to Argentina and parts of Asia to explore and document the local beer scene.

Miguel is often invited to podcast such as Good Beer Hunting, Beer Sessions Radio on the Heritage Radio Network, SweetN’ Up and The Food Engineer as well as panels for Travel + Social Good to talk about cultivating relationships, photography, story telling and the power of social media in the craft beer industry, branding and brand recognition.
